The troop is very much "outdoor" oriented. There is a camping trip every month. The camp trips center around backpacking, biking, canoeing, x-country skiing, kayaking, and any other non-motorized form of transport. Right now the scouts are trying to earn their -200 below camping badge for this year. This year has been pretty easy as our Fall Camporee (October) on Lazy Mountain was -5F.
Our December troop campout at Matanuska Glacier was -30F. Summers are great, though, and the long daylight hours make for some special trips. This years summer adventure trip is canoeing the Yukon River from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to Carmacks, Yukon. I've taken four different troops down the river and its always a special trip.
Special thanks to Scoutmaster Joe Moore, Troop 325, Palmer, for writing this.
