2007 Philmont Requirements
(tentative)

Scout:

  1. Be 14 years of age by 1/1/07 or completed the 8th grade and be at least 13 years old prior to participation.
  2. Earn First Class Rank. If already First Class then advance a rank between 10/1/06 and 5/7/07.
  3. Turn in a Philmont medical form signed by a doctor and photocopy of the front and back of their insurance card by 4/2/07.
  4. Turn in a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian by 4/2/07.
  5. Have parents attend a mandatory informational meeting on 1/8/07.
  6. Participate in four of six preparation backpacking trips. The last trip will occur 5/18-20/07 and is required.
  7. Have one of the following photo identifications:
    a. School photo ID and copy of birth certificate
    b. Passport
    c. Valid state issued ID
  8. Pay trip fee of ???. (guesstimate of $1,100)
    a. $50 refundable deposit between 6/26/06-7/17/06
    b. ??? nonrefundable deposit by ???.
    c. ??? due by ???.
    d. ??? due by ???
    Note: $150.00 of fees paid must be earned through troop fund raising events.


Adult:

  1. Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America
  2. Take youth protection, CPR and basic first aid training.
  3. Turn in a Philmont medical form signed by a doctor and photocopy of the front and back of their insurance card by 4/2/07.
  4. Have parents attend a mandatory informational meeting on 1/8/07.
  5. Participate in four of six preparation backpacking trips. The last trip will occur 5/18-20/07 and is required.

Note: Lead crew advisors must be 25 years of age or older by 6/1/07, have high adventure experience and have demonstrated responsibility and living by the Scout Law.
